Preparation
Clean all surfaces of dirt and loose particles. Moldings may be painted before or after installation. Nomastyl moldings made from polystyrene (white center) requires that you use a latex paint or latex primer if you wish to finish with an oil base paint.
Arstyl moldings made from polyurethane (yellow center) are already primed, and are ready to be finished with either latex or oil base paint or stain.
Measuring and Marking
Measure around the room where you will be installing the moldings. Add a minimum of one or two feet of moldings for each corner in the room, to allow material for mitering waste. Marking the wall for alignment of the molding, can be done by snapping a chalk line, but because ceilings and wall are seldom straight, a better method is to hold a molding in place, making sure that the ceiling and wall flanges are flat against the surfaces and mark the bottom of the molding with a pencil. Continue around the room in this manner until the location of the bottom of the moldings is marked on each wall.
